Timothée Chalamet by Ryan McGinley

Ryan McGinley follows up his cover story on Brad Pitt for GQ STYLE this past summer with a cover feature on Timothée Chalamet, the Oscar-nominated star of “Call Me By Your Name” for the March 2018 issue of GQ.
Since the beginning of his career, McGinley has done commercial work that is the perfect extension of his fine art photography. McGinley has photographed album artwork for bands such as Sigur Ros, The Virgins, Bat for Lashes, and Katy Perry. He has done advertising work for Hermes, Calvin Klein, Dior, Pringle of Scotland, Stella McCartney, Mercedes, and in 2009 he launched the Levi’s “Go Forth” campaign.

The foundations for his commercial success were laid early on. Shortly after his 2003 landmark Whitney Museum solo exhibition, “The Kids Are Alright,” he began taking on editorial assignments for Vanity Fair and The New York Times Magazine. His 2004 Times Magazine cover story on Michael Phelps and the American Olympic swimmers, shot in anticipation of the Olympic games in Athens, received widespread recognition. Fifteen of the photographs from that shoot were later issued in a limited edition portfolio. Peter Hay Halpert Fine Art is pleased to offer a selection of prints from that boxed set.
